When you want to maintain the natural beauty of your hardwood floors, follow these instructions to maintain and clean your wood flooring.
First, clear the floors of any easily movable furniture. Slip-on, furniture pads making shifting furniture much easier and prevent scratching. You can also cut down on scratches by putting rugs in places with significant foot traffic.
Dry mop or use a vacuum with a floor brush attachment to remove dirt, dust, and pet hair. Depending on how dirty your floor gets due to pets and children you may need to do this at least once a week. For deeper cleanings you’ll need high quality, hardwood cleaner products like Real Clean Floors spray and Bona to remove built up dirt and grime. Put a rag or sponge mop in the cleaner solution. Then wring it out so it’s only damp and not soaked. Lightly mop the floor with the cleaner so it doesn’t wetten the floor; mop in smooth strokes going with the grain of the wood. Then rinse the mop with water and damp mop the floor to remove the applied cleaner. Dry towel any excess water left on the floor.
When you want your hardwood floors to have an initial barrier against wear and dirt, take WOCA Direct’s natural oil finish and follow the manufacturer’s instructions to apply.
